Makaton / Signalong

Makaton and Signalong are two very similar communication systems based on British Sign Language. They are used alongside verbal language. They support understanding and communicating children’s needs. They help form relationships, and for some children, they support the development of their spoken language. Speech and Language Therapists recommend using the Total Communication approach, which is a combination of all suitable means for a specific child.
